ABOUT ROCHE WINES:
When you step in the tasting room door at Roche, you might feel transported back to the old world. This winery has deep roots in the French tradition of farming and winemaking - tied to Penelope Furt-Roche, a 6th generation winemaker from Bordeaux.

Roche has made wines at the estate property in Naramata since 2017. The first Roche Wines vintage; however, was 2012 - the year following Penelope and Dylan's move to the Okanagan from France. The winery sits at the South end of the Naramata Bench with 8 estate acres, bees, chickens and a striking, modern winery building.

Dylan, Penelope and their small team tend these vines (and 15 more acres a few km North) organically and by hand. They focus on making wine in the spirit of two regions of France - Bordeaux and Burgundy. So, you'll find some particularly beautiful Pinot Noirs, Chardonnay and Meritage blends from this winery.
ABOUT DYLAN AND PENELOPE ROCHE:

The couple met during harvest in New Zealand. They are both talented winemakers (Penelope focusing on Bordeaux style wines and Dylan with Pinot Noir), but you'll hear them refer to themselves more as "vignerons." This implies that they are a family that farms grapes and makes wine, meaning they are focused on small scale farming first, and their winery and business is built at a manageable scale, reflecting that philosophy.

The Roches are supported by Marco (assistant winemaker), Eliana (Manager) and their three kids who you may see polishing glassware, walking Oka the winery dog or tending to the chickens.

WHY WE LOVE ROCHE :
We greatly admire the Roche's drive to create a BC winery that not only makes outstanding wine, but is true to their overall philosophy. We love the French connection and how this winery is a family business in the best sense.

Roche Wines' 2018 Chateau was declared the "Best of the Bench" by Master of Wine, Siobhan Turner, on her recent visit to BC. Last year, Roche's 2021 vintage whites and rosé sold out almost before the wines were released.

We featured Roche Wines a few years ago as they were just hitting their stride (and the wines were delicious, of course). Now, we are very excited to share these wines with you as the Roches are well established and truly excel at crafting top quality wines that speak of their journey.

The Wines Selected for You to Enjoy

The Roche Wines:
2022 Roche VIG Pinot Gris: $27.70
Lively and dancing in the glass with flecks of pale gold and lime. This Pinot Gris displays a zesty mineral character plus lots of citrus, lime and honeydew melon on the nose. Bright acidity to taste with lime and pomelo. Crunchy green apple and a refreshing finish. The artist behind the label is Naramata local, Marina Billinghurst. She is a graduate of the revered Parsons School of Design and operates a local studio not far from Roche Wines.

Pairing: Seared lingcod with lemon butter and a summer salad, Mediterranean pasta salad.
Cellaring: Drink now with abundance of course. Also can be enjoyed through 2025.
Alc 12% | TA 5.8 | RS .9
2022 Roche VIG Schonburger: $26.55
This wine comes from the aromatic Schonburger grape - not quite like Gewurztraminer and not quite like Muscat. Beautiful Meyer lemon, buddhas fingers, honeysuckle and elderflower aromas show up as you pick up your glass. Take a sip and get a touch of lime, cantaloupe and lemony pop-rocks candy. This wine is indeed dry, yet the touch of RS that remains counterbalances the bright acidity beautifully! Crushable! The label artist is Karl Hipol, originally from the Philippines, completing his degree in Visual Art and Curatorial Studies at Emily Carr University in Vancouver.

Pairing: Laksa noodle soup with fresh basil, summer green salad with grapefruit, peach and goat cheese.
Cellaring: Absolutely ready to drink now and through the rest of the year!
Alc 12.0%| TA 4.6 | RS 1.6
2022 Roche VIG Rosé: $28.85
A pale, yet electric pink rosé this year! Subtle aromas of watermelon and huckleberry with citrus and a spring rain like feel. Refreshing and dry as you sip with notes of rosehip and blood orange. Invigorating acidity and a beautiful, floral finish. The artist for this label is Andrea Soos whose studio is in Victoria BC. She specializes in patterning and a gestural application of colour to her pieces. Her art is collected across the world.

Pairing: Picnics, marcona almonds, muffuletta sandwiches.
Cellaring: This wine is showing beautifully now and you can enjoy it through 2025.
Alc 12% | TA 7.2 | RS 0.9
2018 Roche Merlot: $33.34
This wine is such a stand-out for Roche showing their Bordeaux background. There are opulent red fruits, but you have to work for it - open the wine and let it breathe. Be rewarded by complexity - tobacco, leather, cassis and more on the nose. The wine is medium to full bodied and displays lots of that red and black berry fruit when you take a sip. Smooth tannins and balanced acidity carry you to the long finish.

Pairing: Steak and kidney pie! Classic terrines or mushroom pates with Basque crackers.
Cellaring: Drinking well now after 5 years of aging, will continue to impress through 2025
Alc 13.5%| TA 5.2 | RS 2.3
2019 Roche nuances: $40.24
The nuances (lowercase n is intentional) features the beautiful Merlot from the Kozier vineyard in Naramata. This vineyard is managed by the Roches and produces beautiful fruit for a number of the wines. The Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon come from vineyards further South. This wine is a glorious baby brother to the flagship wine, Chateau. Dark fruits on the nose with great tannin and acid balance, minerality, wood, sage and more with a spicy backbone.

Pairing: Chicken schnitzel and, of course, eggplant parmesan.
Cellaring: Enjoy now either cracking the bottle or decanting, or hold on through 2026.
Alc 13.8% | TA 6.0 | RS 2.4
2018 Roche Chateau: $63.24
This is the wine that London, England's MW Siobhan Turner voted the Best of the Bench. It's a fabulous expression of what the Okanagan can offer in a top level red wine! Wow - a delicious blend of 75% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc. Complex with dark berries, plum, mineral, cedar wood and more. Refreshing with bright acidity lifting up the flavours. The tannins are smooth and the finish is long and ever so slightly peppery, complimenting the juicy fruit. Brilliant!

Pairing: An outdoor dinner featuring charbroiled tomahawk steaks and bordelaise sauce with shoestring fries.
Cellaring: Decant now, or cellar through 2030
Alc 14.7% | TA 5.9 | RS 2.4
2021 VIG Clone 777 Pinot Noir: $39.20
Lighter in colour and body - translucent ruby red in your glass. This wine shows off a lifted note with some bright red cherry fruit, botanical character and cherry - wood smoke. It's fresh and lively in your mouth with a lighter body, peppery tannins (but not too much) and earthy tones. The label artist is Paige Ring, a Toronto based abstract painter who studied historic costume design at Dalhousie University. The wine label looks just like the wine tastes!

Pairing: Appetizers - ripe figs, finocchiona salami, hard cheeses, crusty bread and butter
Cellaring: Enjoy now through 2025
Alc 13.1% | TA 5.9 | RS 0.9
2019 Roche Tradition Pinot Noir: $57.49
Translucent garnet in your glass - like a velvet curtain. An ever-so-slightly lifted nose reveals fresh cherries, plum-skin and the beautiful earthy notes of a forest in the spring. The palate adds in cherry compote, minerals and a round and robust mouthfeel. A touch of oak shows some toasty, pie crust notes and adds an air of complexity to the finish. Long and ultra delicious!

Pairing: Sunday dinner with a roast chicken, scalloped potatoes and roasted root vegetables.
Cellaring: This wine is showing beautifully now and you can enjoy it through 2029.
Alc 13.3% | TA 6.2 | RS 1.6
2018 Roche Tradition Pinot Noir: $57.49
While light in colour and body, this wine packs a bigger punch than the 2019 vintage - fitting given the hotter summer in 2018. Find a robust, red cherry and mineral nose with warm earth elements. A hint of toasty oak and desert scrub compliments the palate, full of lively cherry and salmonberry. Lighter bodied by nature, but not at all singular. This wine offers up a long, rich, fruity and toasty finish.

Pairing: Confit duck leg - served over salad, smashed potatoes or with haricots verts, wild mushroom fricasse with creamy polenta.
Cellaring: This wine is showing beautifully now (2023) and will continue to evolve through 2028
Alc 14.3%| TA 5.8 | RS 0.6

Hear What Other Okanagan Wine Enthusiasts Are Saying
At OkanaganWine.Club, we work hard to give our members a fantastic experience. From the wine quality to the shipping process and beyond, we strive to leave you satisfied with your purchase. That’s why local wine lovers like you are saying things like this:
We’re proud to offer you a great selection of wines and as a member of the Okanagan Wine Club, you’re part of a unique wine experience that has its own Okanagan twist.
The Okanagan Wine Club: Bringing You Quality Local Wines You’ll Love
Here at the Okanagan Wine Club, we’re passionate about bringing you great local wines from world-renowned and boutique wineries. As wine lovers ourselves, we know how challenging it is to walk into a liquor store and find a new bottle of wine to try (many of our selections CAN’T be found in liquor stores). Will it pair nicely with the meal you’ve planned? Is it a good vintage? We’ve had these questions ourselves, and that’s why we work hard to take the guesswork out of trying new wines. We work directly with some of the Okanagan’s best wineries to hand-select the top seasonal offerings and bring them straight to your door.
What does that mean? It means you can spend less time analyzing your wines and more time enjoying them. It means you’ll never again have to guess whether or not 2011 was a good year for local whites or whether you’re overpaying for that bottle of Merlot. Put away your vintage charts; when you shop through the Okanagan Wine Club, you’ll benefit from our wine experts’ knowledge and experience in choosing great local wines.
No Monthly Fee Means You Only Pay for What You Want
One common question we often get is what monthly dues we charge to be part of the club. The answer? None. We don’t charge our members any kind of monthly fee whatsoever. Joining the club is absolutely free, and always will be.

The Okanagan Wine Club is not a monthly membership site, and this is important for several reasons:
  • No monthly membership fee means you can try wines at your leisure.
  • You can pick and choose the sample packs you want to receive without having to cancel a featured pack (I always forgot to cancel and got stuff I didn’t want).
  • No inventory on hand means we don’t guarantee sales to the wineries, which means they give us their highest quality wine.
Our partner wineries know that our current and future club members are passionate about great wine, and that our members represent a significant part of the wine enthusiast community – that means the wineries are proud to present their very best wines to Okanagan Wine Club members
The VIP Lounge: How to Get In
We value all of our members and offer club members a variety of great services, but as a VIP member, you’ll receive several added perks you won’t find anywhere else. Our VIP members benefit from all sorts of bonus offers that the general public won’t ever hear about. VIP members also have priority access to exclusive wine packs, so you can order your wines a full day before the general public and benefit from exclusive deals from our partner organizations.
FAQ
Do I Need to Sign a Contract?
Not at all! Joining the Okanagan Wine Club is entirely free and doesn’t require any paperwork. You have no contract with us and may choose to unsubscribe at any time. We do not trap you into monthly charges…you simply buy the sample packs you want 🙂 Simple.
What Happen If I Want to Leave the Okanagan Wine Club?
You don’t really have to leave, as you are not in a subscription! You just don’t buy anymore (but we doubt that will happen).
Is This a Connoisseurs-Only Club? Do I Have to Know Anything About Wine to Join the Club?
It can seem intimidating at first to join a wine club when you know nothing about wine, but rest assured you have nothing to fear. The Okanagan Wine Club is proud to offer a variety of educational materials that will help you to become a wine master in no time. Our weekly newsletters and blog articles are full of great information that can help you to better understand the wine world. With these materials, you’ll learn about wine regions, flavour and texture profiles, and all the big industry news. Best of all, it’s written in a beginner-friendly manner that assumes absolutely zero knowledge of wine, wine pairings, or the wine industry. Even if you’re starting fresh with no wine background whatsoever, you’ll love what we have to offer – and you’ll quickly learn everything you need to know.

Best of all, joining the Okanagan Wine Club is completely free and requires no monthly commitment. So even if you’re not a “wine club” person, you can still learn about, enjoy, and discuss the best wines in the Okanagan.
I Only Like One Kind of Wine!
One of the great advantages of joining our wine club is that you’ll be able to try new, boutique wines easier than ever. Perhaps the reason you don’t like white wines, for instance, is because you haven’t yet found the right white. Wines come in many diverse forms and flavour profiles, and by ordering today you get to try 6 new wines.
I Don’t Drink Enough Wine to Justify Joining a Wine Club!
Even if you don’t necessarily drink wine on a regular basis, you probably still celebrate with it, or entertain family and friends. It’s never a bad idea to have a few bottles of wine on hand should some old friends unexpectedly drop in – and by being prepared, you’ll look like a fantastic host. Wine also makes an excellent gift for birthdays and holidays. Invited for a dinner party? Quickly grab a nice bottle with a story to tell. No one will ship you wine automatically. If you order once, that’s it (until you choose to order more).
I’m Afraid to Give Out My Credit Card Number Online!
We understand that e-commerce can be intimidating, and credit card fraud is a real concern. We ensure that the winery in turn has a payment platform that uses secure SSL verification, a security method that prevents third parties from getting your information. SSL verification ensures that your computer only connects to trusted sites that independent third parties have confirmed as reliable. It’s the technological equivalent of keeping your credit card in a box with two different locks protecting it.
What If I Don’t Like Your Wine?
Here at the Okanagan Wine Club, we strive to bring you the best wine deals in the region – and in support of that mission, we’ve chosen to focus exclusively on cultivating and distributing a great selection of products. By partnering with several different wineries, we’re able to offer you a wider selection of wines to try and enjoy.

Sadly, this means we have no control over the wine making process, and therefore we cannot guarantee the quality of each individual bottle. However, many of our partner wineries do allow you to return wine directly to the winery if the quality has been compromised. If you are unsatisfied with your wine purchase or the quality of your wine, please email us to help you solve the issue.
There’s A Specific Kind of Wine I Want, But You Don’t Offer It!
The great freedom we offer over traditional wine membership sites is that you, the user, are free to order the wine packs you want and decline the wine packs you don’t want. So thankfully, you’re not obligated to buy a wine you don’t think you’ll enjoy (we encourage trying new wines).

Here at the Okanagan Wine Club, we try to come out with new offers every two weeks. If you don’t see your preferred wine in our offers, send us an email and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Where am I Purchasing The Wine?
You are purchasing wine directly from the winery. All on their site but we are working closely with the wineries to ensure that OWC members get treated as true VIPs and enjoy a quality experience every time.
